F.A.Q.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOU?

I only take appointment requests via the submission form on this website, found here.

PROCESS

For new clients I correspond via email about design, budget, and timeline. For larger scale work or more unusual requests I have $50.00 half-hour in person or Zoom consultations. I generally have small-medium size designs ready the day of our appointment, for larger pieces I may schedule an additional appointment before our tattoo for a review or fitting of the design. I do not share designs before the appointment unless we have a fitting/review appointment.  I do take a deposit before beginning any renderings or scheduling tattoos, this deposit is non-refundable and goes toward the final cost of your tattoo.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

I work at a rate of $150/hr with a 1 hour minimum regardless of size. Please note that tattooing is a handcrafted art form, and it is difficult to give exact estimates of cost, but I am always open to spacing out sessions to work with individual budgets. Some flash designs may be priced by the piece. I require a deposit of my hourly rate ($150.00) at the time of booking.

WHAT FORM(S) OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

I am able to take cash and card as well as Venmo and PayPal for clients that are traveling. For card there is a 4% processing fee.

DO YOU HAVE A WAITLIST/CANCELLATION LIST?

Occasionally I have cancellations and openings, but do not keep a list. I do post last minute openings on my instagram. I am always happy to give recommendations for other artists I feel would be appropriate if our schedule or timeline doesn’t line up.

What if i need to reschedule?

Rescheduling an appointment is fine with more than 48 hours notice. If you need to reschedule, it may take up to 3-4 months or longer from the date of your initial appointment to schedule you again, depending on availability. If you reschedule more than twice, an additional $150.00 deposit may need to be paid.

WHERE CAN I VIEW YOUR FLASH DESIGNS?

You can view larger scale projects on my website. I keep my Instagram (@slizzerandhiss) the most up-to-date with designs under highlights named “single use” or “flash” - I suggest following me there for available flash and new flash as it becomes available. I also have a book of flash at the studio that is always available for perusal during shop hours. This book is mainly floral projects, and occasionally I can fit these flash designs in a bit sooner than my typical 1-2 month wait.

TatToo Care

The first few hours after receiving a tattoo are when you are at the highest risk for contamination or infection, so please leave your bandage on for a minimum of three hours. Expect a small amount of blood, ink, and lymph fluid to gather underneath the bandage.

You may leave a Tegaderm bandage on for up to 48 hours with a few exceptions**

  • When it is time to remove your bandage, peel it off slowly and gently under warm running water. Feel free to use a little coconut oil and soap to break up the adhesive as you peel away the bandage.

  • Gently hand wash your tattoo with your hand, soap, and warm water. No wash cloths or bath towels should be used to clean your tattoo, please let it air dry or pat it dry with a fresh paper towel.

  • Please do not use any ointments or moisturizers the first few days. Be mindful of your environment and possible contamination you could come into contact with. If you have pets please keep them off of your tattoo until it is healed and be sure to sleep on clean, dander free sheets.

  • Keep in mind as your tattoo heals it may raise and get a light texture or flakiness. It is important to remember that this raised skin contains the ink and it will settle as it heals. Do not pick or scratch at the healing tattoo, or get it submerged in pools, baths, lakes until it is totally healed.

  • When your tattoo starts feeling dry and flaky please moisturize with shea butter or a non-petroleum based white lotion, no oils please! Generally your tattoo will not need moisturizer more than two or three times a day, please apply the product of your choice sparingly and make sure to completely work it in the skin, there should not be a shiny, thick coat on top of your tattoo.

  • Keep your tattoo protected from the sun, this is especially important the first few weeks as your skin heals, but it is also important to apply SPF to your tattoo make sure it stays crisp and bright.

**Occasionally individuals will have a sensitivity to the adhesive in the bandage. If you notice redness or irritation develop around the outside edges or corners of the bandage please remove the bandage and commence with aftercare.

**With heavy shading, color work, or black-out tattoos an extra amount of lymph, blood, and ink can pool under the bandage. If such an amount accumulates that there is not longer a path for your skin to breathe underneath the bandage please remove it and commence with aftercare.
